AMCA Announcement: Retirement of Gail Wiseman
It is with both deep gratitude and a touch of sadness that I announce the retirement of Gail Wiseman as the General Manager of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA), a role she has held with unwavering dedication for the past five years.
Gail co-founded AMCA with Lucy Haslam and me in July 2020 and has been nothing short of instrumental in shaping the Association into the strong, credible and respected body it is today. From the very beginning, Gail’s fingerprints have been on every part of AMCA’s development – from building and nurturing our membership base, to developing and maintaining our marketing, website and social media presence, to ensuring that the Association’s objectives were not only met but often exceeded.
Her contribution has been far greater than her formal role might suggest. Gail has poured her heart into AMCA, working tirelessly – often at short notice and outside business hours – to ensure that the voice of our members was heard, that our activities were professionally run and effective, and our purpose was always at the forefront. She has provided outstanding support to both Lucy and me in our time as Chairs, as well as to the Board and our members, always with grace, good humour and a deep personal commitment to the sector.
It is no exaggeration to say that without Gail, AMCA would not be what it is today: a national association with approximately 500 individual members, recognised as a leading voice for medicinal cannabis in Australia. Gail’s vision, determination and steady leadership of the executive function have been critical in building trust with stakeholders, ensuring the smooth running of our operations, and creating a truly member-focused organisation.
On a personal note, I want to acknowledge the unwavering support Gail has given me over the past five years – not just professionally, but personally. Her wise counsel, loyalty and friendship have been constants that I will always treasure.
While we will miss her presence, her energy, her kindness and her tireless efforts, Gail’s contribution will not be forgotten. AMCA, its members and indeed the wider sector will continue to benefit from the strong foundations she has laid.
Please join me in expressing our heartfelt thanks to Gail for her extraordinary service, and in wishing her every happiness in this new chapter. Her legacy is one of lasting impact, for which we are profoundly grateful.
